Aloo Masala Sandwich / Potato Sandwich

Try this yummy, filling and healthy Potato / Aloo sandwich for your kids lunch box /for breakfast or tea time snack with hot tea!


In this recipe, I have used Indian spices which gives nice punch to this potato filling,but in  lesser amount, as I prepared this sandwich for my kids.  You can adjust the spice level according to your taste bud.

Recipe for Aloo Masala / Potato Sandwich 
Recipe type: Veg
Cuisine:  Indian
Serves: 3 to 4 (approximately)

Ingredients:

Bread - 8 to 10 (Here I have used brown bread)
Potato - 1 large one
Onion - 1 medium sized(finely chopped)
Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
Red chilli powder - ½ tsp
Garam masala powder /
Chat masala - ¼ tsp
Corriander leaves - few(chopped)

Butter -  to apply on bread

Sprouts Potato Sandwich / Healthy Sprouts Sandwich / Sprouts Masala Sandwich

Here is the continuation to my previous post "How to Sprout Moong Beans (Green Gram Sprouts) at home".  Potato sprouts sandwich is amongst the hits in my family.

Use of Indian spices in this dish adds to the taste and aroma.  This is a perfect choice for breakfast or even a quick meal during the day.

Recipe for Sprouts Masala Sandwich
Recipe type: Sandwich
Cuisine: Indian
Serves: 3 to 4 persons

Ingredients:
Green gram sprouts - ½ to ¾  cup 
Potato - 1(big)
Bread – 6 to 8 slices 
Onion – 1 (finely chopped) 
Tomato – 1(finely chopped) 
Turmeric power - ¼ tsp 
Red chilli powder - ½ tsp 
Garam masala powder - ¼ tsp
Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp (finely chopped) 
Salt - to taste 
Butter – to spread as required 
Tomato ketch up - to spread 
Cream cheese - to spread 
Oil - 1 tbsp

To grind:
Ginger  - 1'' piece
Garlic - 4 to 5 cloves
Green chillies - 1 or 2

Cucumber Sandwich / Cucumber Cream Cheese Sandwich

Here is a creamy and delicious, easy to prepare sandwich with cucumber and cream cheese as the main ingredient.

My kids love this delicious sandwich for school lunch / snack box and perfect way to make them eat vegetables!

Ingredients:

Brown / white bread - 6 slices
Cream chesee - 3 to 4 tbsp
Cucumber - 1 (small)

Spicy Capsicum Chicken Sandwich

Here is a yummy & filling sandwich recipe using capsicum chicken curry.  It is also perfect food to pack for the kids school / picnic lunch box.  I tried this for my sons; both of them liked it very much.



Ingredients:

Capsicum chicken curry - 1 cup
Wheat / white bread - 4 to 6
Tomato Ketchup - 2 or 3 tsp
Butter - for toasting the bread

Chicken & Mayonnaise Sandwich / Chicken Mayo Sandwich

Here is a tasty and easy to prepare sandwich prepared with chicken and mayonnaise as the main ingredient.

Both kids and adults will love this delicious sandwich and perfect to pack for kids lunch / snack box!




Ingredients:

Chicken - 250 grams
Wheat / Wheat bread - 4 to 6
Lettuce leaves – 1 to 2 (tear into small pieces)
Mayonnaise – 4 to 5  tbsp
Tomato ketchup or hot sauce -1 tsp (optional)
Salt - to taste
Pepper – to taste
Spring onion white part / Onion – 2 tsp finely chopped
Butter – to toast

Scrambled Egg Cheese Sandwich - Kids Special Recipe

Enjoy these delicious sandwiches filled with egg and cheese. This is a favorite variety for my sons and they often ask for this to school!  


Ingredients:

Wheat bread - 4
Eggs - 2
Cheese slice - 1 
Salt - to taste
Pepper - to taste
Oregano - 1 tsp
Milk - 1/4 cup
Butter - to toast the bread
Tomato sauce - 2 to 3 tsp
Olive oil /butter  1 to 2 tsp

Directions:

Add egg,  cheese, salt and pepper along with milk in a bowl; beat until well blended.

French Toast

An irresistible, delicious, all-time favorite breakfast, perfect for lazy Sunday mornings!


Serves - 2 persons

Ingredients:

Bread - 6 slices (I used brown bread)
Eggs - 3
Milk - ½ to ¾ cup
Sugar - 1 tbsp (Adjust according to your taste)
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
or 
Cinnamon powder - ½  tsp
Butter - to toast the bread




Directions:

Beat eggs, milk, vanilla extract / cinnamon powder and sugar in a bowl, until well blended.

Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture until coated on both sides.

Melt butter over a non stick frying pan / dosa pan; toast both sides of the egg coated slice in medium flame until it gets cooked and its colour changes to golden brown.


Serve hot with honey / jam or any syrup of your choice.

Carrot Panner Sandwich / Carrot and Cottage Cheese Sandwich

Here is a colourful, healthy and easy to prepare sandwich and it will also help to add lots of nutrients to your child's lunch box.




Ingredients:

Carrot - 1 cup (grated)
Paneer - ½ cup 
Bread – 6 slices
Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
Tomato – ½ (finely chopped)
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Green chillies - 2 to 3
Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Salt - to taste
Butter – to spread as required

To Temper:

Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
Cumin seeds -¾ tsp
Oil - as required 

Directions:

Grind ginger and green chilli into a fine paste.  Keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan; add all the ingredients under “To Temper”.

After it crackles, add the onions and saute till the colour changes.  Then add ginger green chilli paste, tomato and salt. Saute till tomato becomes soft. 


Add the grated carrot; allow to cook till it becomes soft and moisture is absorbed.  Finally add crumbled paneer and coriander leaves.  Give it a mix.

Switch off the gas and keep aside.

Apply butter in both the slices. Spread the carrot paneer mixture on one slice and cover it with the another slice.

Toast in a sandwich maker or in the pan .

Cut the sandwich into half and serve with mint chutney or tomato ketchup.

Spicy Mushroom Cheese Sandwich

A tasty & healthy filling for sandwiches, ideal for lunchbox and picnics!



Ingredients:


Mushroom – 8 to 10 piece
Bread – 8 slices
Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
Tomato – ½ (finely chopped)
Garlic – 4 cloves (chopped)
Redchilli powder – ¾ tsp
Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
Oregano - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Salt - to taste
Tomato ketchup – 1 or 2 tsp 
Mozzarella cheese – to sprinkle over the mushroom masala
Butter  – to spread as required

Directions:

Heat oil in a pan; add onion, garlic and saute for 2 minutes.

Once it is done, add the chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, salt and spice powders. Allow to cook; no need to add water as mushroom have the tendency to leave water. 

When the mushroom mixture is cooked, add oregano and mix well. Switch off the gas and keep aside.

Apply butter in bread. Spread the mushroom mixture on one slice, sprinkle some cheese and cover it with the another slice.



Toast in a sandwich maker or in the pan for about 2 to 4 minutes.



Cut the sandwich into half and it is ready to serve.

Note:


You may apply tomato sauce on bread before spreading the mushroom masala to add to the taste.

Instead of oregano, you may add coriander leaves.

You may also substitute chicken for mushroom.

Egg Salad Sandwich

This classic egg salad is easy to make, tastes great and best for Sandwiches. This is a favourite dish for my son that he wants to school at least once a week!

Ingredients


Eggs -2 (Hard boiled and peeled)
Wheat bread - 4 to 6
Lettuce leaves – 1 to 2 (tear into small pieces)
Mayonnaise –1 to 2 tbsp
Tomato ketchup or hot sauce -1 tsp (optional)
Salt - to taste
Pepper – to taste
Onion – 2 tsp chopped (optional)
Butter – to toast

Directions
Chop the peeled hardboiled egg into small pieces. Give a slight mash with fork.

Take a bowl, mix together chopped eggs, mayonnaise, ketchup, Salt, pepper, onion, lettuce leaves with a spoon.

Toast the bread using butter. Spread the egg mixture on one slice and cover it with the other.


Pack or Serve in a plate!

Note:

You may also add finely chopped capsicum for extra crunch.

Vegetable & Egg Masala Sandwich

Sandwiches are the best means to make childrens eat vegetables and also suitable for picnics and lunch boxes.  Here is the healthy sandwich for you all to relish!
 

Ingredients

Wheat Bread - 6
Onion – 1 medium
Carrot - 1 small (grated)
Capsicum – ½ (finely chopped)
Cabbage – 1cup (chopped)
Ginger garlic – 1 tsp (minced)
Redchilli powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala- ½ tsp
Coriander leaves - 1 or 2 tsp (chopped)
Tomato sauce - 2 tsp
Egg -1
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Butter – to toast

Directions:

Heat oil in a pan; add onions and sauté well till it turns translucent.
Then add minced ginger and garlic. Sauté well.

Once it is done add the vegetables, salt, spice powders and tomato sauce. Allow to cook in a medium flame adding very little water.

When the vegetable mixture is cooked and become thick, break the eggs into the center of the pan and slowly mix in the veg mixture till it is blended well and cooked.  Garnish with coriander leaves .

Toast the bread using butter.  Spread the veg mixture on one slice and cover it with the other.

Cut the sandwich into half and it is ready to serve.

Note:
Instead of egg, vegetarians can try using paneer, but remember to grate and use.

Wheat Bread pizza

This is one of the favourite foods for kids. Here I am using wheat bread instead of usual white bread to make it healthier.

Ingredients
Wheat bread slices – 4
Tomato sauce or pizza sauce – 1 or 2 tbsp
Mixed vegetables of your choice – ½ cup (onion, capsicum, olives, mushroom, and tomatoes)
Mozzarella cheese – ½ to 1cup
Chilli flakes – to sprinkle (optional)
Oregano – to sprinkle
Olive oil - to drizzle



Directions

Preheat oven at 180 deg. C.
Apply tomato sauce / pizza sauce over one side of the bread slices. Arrange the veggies of your choice over the bread.
Sprinkle oregano, chilli flakes and mozzarella cheese.
Place the prepared bread base in the oven and bake   at 180 deg. C for 5 to 10 minutes or  till the cheese melts.
Note:
You can also prepare this dish in  tawa.
Toast the bread using butter; follow the same method.  Instead of placing in oven, keep the bread in the tawa till the cheese melts.

Nutella Sandwich / Nutella Banana Sandwich/ Chocolate Banana Sandwich - Kids Recipes

A perfect dish for the kids school / picnic lunch box. And for lazy Sunday mornings!


Serves – 1

Ingredients:

Bread – 2 slice
Banana - 1 (sliced)
Butter – For toasting the bread
Chocolate Hazelnut spread - 1 or 2 tablespoon



Directions:

Toast the bread using butter.

Now, spread the nutella on both slices; top with banana slices on one side and cover it with the other slice.




Cut the sandwich into half and it is done!



Variation:

Instead of nutella spread you can also try this sandwich with peanut butter.
