Apple Oats Cake

This fresh, moist and delicious Apple Oats Cake is quite easy to make!

Apples and cinnamon are one of my all time favorite flavour combinations and that is here combined with the characters of Oats!  This give the cake a nice texture and helps to increase the nutritive value of the cake.

Normally I used to prepare this cake with Red Apples that is an all time hit!  But this time I have used Green Apples since a friend of mine gifted me a lot of them!

Ingredients:

All purpose flour – 2 cups
Oats - ½ cup
Apples – 3 to 4 (peeled , cored and chopped)
Vegetable Oil - 1 cup
Powdered sugar – 2 cups
Eggs - 4
Cinnamon powder - 2 ½ tsp
Salt – a pinch
Baking Powder – 3 tsp
Vanilla essence – 1 ½ tsp

For topping:
Honey - 1 tbsp
Oats – to sprinkle

Directions

Preheat oven to 180 deg. C and prepare the baking tin; keep aside.

Sift together flour, cinnamon powder, baking powder and salt.

Add ½ cup oats to the sifted mixture and keep aside.

In a bowl, beat oil and sugar till it becomes fluffy and light.

Add eggs one by one and beat it thoroughly. Then add vanilla essence.

Fold in the flour and oats into the wet ingredients mixture; use a spatula to mix evenly. At last fold in the chopped apples.

Pour the cake batter into the greased cake tin and sprinkle some oats over the cake batter.

Bake on preheated oven at 180 deg C for 30 – 35 minutes.  While the cake is half done take the cake out and brush it with honey and again bake till a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Remove from oven and leave it in the baking tin itself for 15 minutes.

Allow it to cool and garnish with sliced cherries.  Now the Apple Oats Cake is ready to serve!
