Sprouts Potato Sandwich / Healthy Sprouts Sandwich / Sprouts Masala Sandwich

Here is the continuation to my previous post "How to Sprout Moong Beans (Green Gram Sprouts) at home".  Potato sprouts sandwich is amongst the hits in my family.

Use of Indian spices in this dish adds to the taste and aroma.  This is a perfect choice for breakfast or even a quick meal during the day.

Recipe for Sprouts Masala Sandwich
Recipe type: Sandwich
Cuisine: Indian
Serves: 3 to 4 persons

Ingredients:
Green gram sprouts - ½ to ¾  cup 
Potato - 1(big)
Bread – 6 to 8 slices 
Onion – 1 (finely chopped) 
Tomato – 1(finely chopped) 
Turmeric power - ¼ tsp 
Red chilli powder - ½ tsp 
Garam masala powder - ¼ tsp
Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp (finely chopped) 
Salt - to taste 
Butter – to spread as required 
Tomato ketch up - to spread 
Cream cheese - to spread 
Oil - 1 tbsp

To grind:
Ginger  - 1'' piece
Garlic - 4 to 5 cloves
Green chillies - 1 or 2



Directions:
Grind green chillies, ginger and garlic with water into fine paste; keep aside.

Pressure cook the potatoes until it becomes soft and mash it roughly (not like a paste); keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan; add onions and sauté well till it turns translucent.


Then add ground paste and chopped tomatoes. Sauté well.
Once it is done add salt and spice powders; stir well till the tomato becomes soft.

Next add green gram sprouts; sprinkle little water and close the pan with the lid.  Allow to cook for 5 minutes in medium flame. 

Once it is done, add mashed potatoes and corriander leaves.


Mix it well and turn of the stove (make sure there is no moisture in this mixture).

Toast the bread using butter. Apply tomato sauce and cream cheese / mayonnaise in each slice.

  
Spread the sprouts mixture on one slice and cover it with the other.


Cut the sandwich into half and Serve!

Notes:

Using mayonnaise / cream cheese spread is optional.

Adjust spice level according to your taste.
