Masala Kadalai / Masala Peanuts

Masala Peanuts / Kadalai is a spicy & tasty snack to munch at any time of the day. Though I used to prepare this often, Its only now I could post this!

Ingredients:

Raw peanuts - 1 cup
Gram flour / Kadalai Mavu - 4 tbsp
Rice flour - 2 tbsp
Garlic - 7 to 8 cloves
Red chilli powder - ½ to ¾ tsp
Asafoetida - a pinch
Garam masala - ¼ tsp

Curry leaves - 1 or 2 sprig
Salt - to taste
Oil - for deep frying



Directions:

Grind garlic along with skin in a mixer into coarse paste and keep aside.
(no need to add water)

Take a bowl, add peanuts, gram flour, rice flour, asafoetida, salt, red chilli powder, ground garlic and garam masala.  Mix well.

Next, sprinkle water and mix with your hand until each peanuts are coated with gram flour mixture.


At last, add curry leaves into that, give it a mix.

Heat oil in a kadai, deep fry the peanuts in medium flame till it changes into golden brown colour.  Drain the excess oil in tissue paper and allow to cool.




Store it in air tight container.  





Note:

It will not be crunchy, as soon as you take from oil.  Once it cools, you can feel the crunchiness.

Adjust the red chilli powder according to your taste.
