Ginger Prawn Fry/Roast

This is a spicy ginger flavored prawn fry/roast prepared in South Indian style.

Ingredients:
Prawns - 400 grams Ginger - 1 tbsp (Finely chopped) Green chilli – 1 or 2 (Finely chopped) Turmeric powder - ½ tsp Onion – 1 big sized (Finely chopped) Red chilli powder- 1 tsp (Adjust according to your spice level) Garam masala powder - ½ tsp Coriander leaves - for garnishing Salt – to taste For Seasoning: Oil – 1 or 2 tbsp Fennel seeds – ½ tsp Curry leaves – 1 sprig Note: You may adjust the salt and spice levels to suit your taste.

Directions:

Peel the skin, devein and wash the prawns; Keep aside.

Take a kadai, add the cleaned prawns, chopped ginger, salt, turmeric powder and chopped green chillies.

Close the lid and cook in a medium flame by adding ¼ cup water only for 3 to 4 minutes(stir in between to avoid sticking)

Heat oil in the same kadaii; Season it with fennel seeds and curry leaves.

Now add finely chopped onions and saute till the colour changes.

Next add red chilli powder and garam masala .

Give it a mix and add cooked prawn ; mix well till the masala coats over the prawns.(Don't cook for a long time;it has a tendency to become rubbery in texture)

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

  5. Amazing looking sauteed prawns. It only wants me to stop being a vegetarian by choice and enjoy these delicacies. I wish , I could :)
Also the masala has coated the prawns perfectly & since you are using only little oil to saute, i think it is super good healthy, at the same time rich recipe.
    Love it.
